My 2 New Winter Favorites: Fenty Foundation and #BECCABFFS Collection Highlighter

If you’re anything like me, you love trying newly released makeup and when Rihanna dropped her hotly anticipated makeup brand last year, I was itching to try it out. However, my makeup drawers were practically overflowing (and still are). So, when I  finally ran out of my foundation, I replaced it with the Fenty brand “Pro Filt’r Foundation” in shade 190.

I can honestly say that the foundation lives up to the hype, especially if you’re into a matte finish foundation that feels light as air! I don’t like to wear a heavy foundation because, as a teenager, I prefer to use light makeup to avoid clogging my pores. The foundation also oxidizes, meaning after you apply it to your face, it dries a shade darker so when picking a shade, I suggest going into a store so you can actually test the makeup on your skin.

Most notable about the foundation isn’t how smooth it applies and lasts (it does both), it’s the range of 40 different shades to match ANY skin tone. I commend Rihanna and her staff for creating a makeup brand that aims to bring beauty products to everyone regardless of skin color. I have olive skin and usually wear “medium” foundation. When I went to Sephora to try out swatches of the foundation, there were multiple “medium” shades that I could choose from. After trying them all out I found the perfect match.

At $34 for the foundation, the Pro Filt’r Foundation is almost 10-12 dollars cheaper than the one I’d usually buy (Lancôme and MAC Brand), and the bottle holds more product than the other brands (1.08 fl oz) I will definitely be returning to Sephora soon to restock my Fenty beauty collection and add new products while I’m at it. I can’t wait to try the “Plush Matte Lipsticks” and the “Shimmer Skinsticks”.

Similarly, when I ran out of my Kylie Cosmetics highlighter, it was only fitting that I try out Khloe Kardashian’s (Kylie’s older sister) newly released makeup line: #BECCABFFs COLLECTION. Khloe’s line includes a product called “Glow Letters” which I assumed was some sort of highlighting product. (I assumed correctly)

I rushed over to my local ULTA Beauty store to browse the new limited line that Khloé & Malika Haqq designed with Becca Cosmetics. The packaging was beautiful for every product from the lipsticks to the palettes. Everything was packaged in shimmering gold and silver metallic boxes. What was really unique, though about the highlighter, was the product itself. Rather than your average highlighter/bronzer which comes in a palette or compact form, this is completely different. The makeup isn’t delivered in a pressed powder form. Instead, the cosmetic is pressed together into little X’s, O’s and heart shapes. Each shape is the size of a lucky charm cereal piece. To get the full effect, you simply swirl your brush around to pick up maximum product.

I bought the “Glow Letters” and immediately tried it out the next morning when I did my makeup. What I love about the product isn’t just its adorable design, it’s the delicate bronzed look that I can create with the makeup! The shades of highlights vary which allow for an even tan look without the shock of a harsh golden yellow highlight. My only issue with the product was that the cute box the loose letters came in was cardboard and some of the shapes were broken or crumbling. Sturdier packaging might have been a better choice for the box because it would have looked good, felt better to hold and protected the makeup itself better. Overall though, I’ve loved the “Glow Letters” and I wear it as my highlighter.  It also works great as a light shimmery eyeshadow.

These new products are definitely my winter favorites! During the cold season I look pale, my dark circles pop out and my skin can get dry and break out due to the whipping New England wind, but these two products have kept my skin looking clear, soft and naturally bronzed.
